The story

Discover Jamaica By Bike in Kingston

Organized by Dennis Chung with Jamaica Tourist Board support, Discover Jamaica by Bike is an eight-day, roughly 387-mile supported cycling tour crossing all fourteen Jamaican parishes. Grown from a 2020 pilot ride, it routes international and local cyclists through coastal roads, rainforest sections and inland villages, directing tourist spending into small communities rather than resort strips along the way.

Dennis Chung built Discover Jamaica by Bike as a multi-day cycling tour that crosses all fourteen of Jamaica's parishes, covering roughly 387 miles and more than 14,000 feet of elevation gain over an eight-day itinerary supported by the Jamaica Tourist Board.

What is special

The part that makes it specific.

01

The place changes

Unlike a single-day gran fondo, this event is a full-island, multi-day expedition that touches all fourteen parishes on one continuous route, forcing riders to manage accumulated fatigue over eight consecutive days rather than one peak effort

02

The mystery stays covered

Its stated goal, backed by the Jamaica Tourist Board, is economic rather than purely athletic: routing cyclist spending on food and lodging into small inland and coastal communities that conventional resort tourism rarely reaches

03

The city starts moving

Mixed international and local participation, with past riders from the United States, United Kingdom and Finland alongside Jamaican club cyclists, gives it a cross-cultural training-camp character distinct from a typical charity ride
