Jamaica Gospel Song Competition Finals in Kingston
The finals of a Jamaica Cultural Development Commission gospel singing competition that has run for more than three decades, sitting alongside the JCDC's Festival Song and Festival Queen contests as one of three flagship performing-arts competitions tied to Jamaica's independence celebrations. The competition has operated in different formats over its history, including an original-song version and a cover-song Gospel Star version.
For more than three decades a gospel song competition run by the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission has unearthed hundreds of singers and songwriters, operating as part of the same festival infrastructure that produces the Jamaica Festival Song Competition, first staged in 1966, and the Miss Jamaica Festival Queen Competition.
