Peter Tosh Music Festival in Kingston/Belmont
Peter Tosh Music Festival, also covered in press as Tosh Fest, honors the reggae icon each October around his October 19 birthday across several Westmoreland communities tied to his life, including Belmont, his birthplace and burial site, and Bluefields, home to the Peter Tosh Memorial Garden. Programming spans a free memorial gathering, a ticketed concert, and a symposium on his activism.
Peter Tosh was born Winston Hubert McIntosh on October 19, 1944, in Grange Hill, Westmoreland, and grew up in Belmont, a small community in the same parish where he is buried in a mausoleum built beside his boyhood home.
