Rising Sun Rock Festival in Ishikari
Rising Sun Rock Festival, launched in 1999 in Ishikari, Hokkaido, is regarded as Japan's first full-scale overnight outdoor rock festival. Growing from a single stage to more than six by 2007, it runs through the night on its second day until sunrise, focusing heavily on Japanese rock and indie acts and drawing tens of thousands of fans to its Hokkaido grounds each summer.
Launched in 1999, the Rising Sun Rock Festival is widely credited as Japan's first full-scale, all-night outdoor rock festival, a format that was still a novelty in the country at the time.
