Fuji Rock Festival in Yuzawa

Fuji Rock Festival is Japan's largest outdoor music event, held every July at the Naeba Ski Resort in Yuzawa after a rough 1997 debut near Mount Fuji was cut short by a typhoon. More than two hundred acts perform across stages spread through wooded mountain terrain over three days, drawing international and domestic music fans alike.

Fuji Rock Festival began in 1997 as an ambitious experiment by promoter Masahiro Hidaka and organizer Smash, staged at Tenjinyama Ski Resort near the actual base of Mount Fuji, from which the festival takes its name.
