Jersey Eisteddfod Festivals in St Helier
A competitive festival of speech, drama, music and dance founded in 1908 by Dean Samuel Falle, modelled on the Welsh Eisteddfod tradition. Two annual events, a spring Festival of Creative Arts and an autumn Festival of Performing Arts, run graded classes at the Jersey Arts Centre attracting close to 3,000 entries.
Former Dean of Jersey Samuel Falle founded the Jersey Eisteddfod in 1908, borrowing the competitive format from Wales as a way to raise the island's standards of speech, presentation and music.
