Almaty Half Marathon in Almaty
The Almaty Half Marathon, held each April, draws over ten thousand runners from more than twenty countries for a city-center 21.1 kilometer race, plus 10 kilometer running and Nordic walking options and a six-person Ekiden relay. AIMS-certified and organized by the same platform behind the autumn Almaty Marathon, it takes advantage of Almaty's brief green spring window beneath still snow-capped mountains.
Runners fill downtown Almaty streets each spring for the Almaty Half Marathon, a race that has grown into one of Central Asia's largest spring running events under the same organizing platform, almaty-marathon.kz, that also runs the flagship Almaty Marathon each autumn.
