Eldoret City Marathon in Eldoret
Founded in 2018 to launch young Kenyan running talent while promoting environmental conservation, this marathon is set in Eldoret, the globally recognized training ground of Kenyan running champions at over 2,100 meters altitude. It has become Africa's highest-paying marathon, awarding 3.5 million Kenyan shillings to winners and extending cash prizes to the top twenty finishers in both men's and women's races, alongside an ambitious campaign to plant one million tree seedlings.
Eldoret City Marathon was founded in 2018 as a platform specifically designed to launch the careers of young and previously unknown long-distance running talent, while simultaneously promoting environmental conservation through the sport, positioning the race's dual athletic and environmental mission from its very first edition.
