Lake Turkana Cultural Festival in Loiyangalani

Known locally as Tobong'u Lore, or welcome home, this festival in Loiyangalani on Lake Turkana's shore brings together as many as fourteen ethnic communities including the Turkana, Rendille, Samburu and El Molo for several days of traditional dance, music, camel processions and craft exhibitions. Founded in 2008 to promote peace among communities historically in competition over scarce grazing and water resources, it is hosted specifically by the El Molo, one of Kenya's smallest and most endangered ethnic groups.
