Kyrgyz Kuresh Festival in Naryn/Bishkek/Multi-city
Kuresh, traditional Kyrgyz belt wrestling, is contested at multiple tournaments and festivals rather than under one fixed event called the Kyrgyz Kuresh Festival. The clearest example is the Kaba Uulu Kozhomkul and Raatbek Sanatbaev memorial tournament on the Suusamyr plain, alongside kuresh matches held at national holiday celebrations in Naryn and Bishkek and as a headline sport at the biennial World Nomad Games.
Kuresh, a belt-wrestling style shared across Turkic peoples of Central Asia, holds a central place in Kyrgyz sporting culture, contested at weddings, national holidays, and dedicated tournaments rather than existing as one single fixed festival under the name Kyrgyz Kuresh Festival.
