Sary-Mogol Pamir Festival in Sary-Mogol
A National Horse Games Festival organized by Sary-Mogol's community-based tourism office each July, held on the shore of Tulpar-Kol lake facing Peak Lenin's glaciated summit. Ulak Tartysh and Er Enish anchor the competition, with folklore music and simple food stalls filling out the day. Set against a 7,000-meter backdrop, it draws climbers and trekkers already passing through en route to base camp.
Sary-Mogol sits at the edge of the Alay range in southern Kyrgyzstan, a herding village that doubles as the staging point for trekkers heading to Peak Lenin base camp.
