Boun Bang Fai Vientiane Villages in Vientiane villages

Villages just outside Vientiane, including Naxon, Natham, Thongmang and Ban Kern, hold one of Laos's most visible Boun Bang Fai rocket festivals. Homemade bamboo rockets are launched skyward to plead for rain, alongside cross-dressing performances, mock courtship games and processions of artificial elephants and horses.
