Jurmala Festival in Jurmala
Jūrmala Festival is the umbrella name for the seaside resort city's dense summer festival calendar, spanning events like the Jomas Street Festival, Kauguri Festival and Jūrmala Running Festival across the town's beach parks and its pedestrian Jomas Street. Held throughout the warm months in Latvia's most popular coastal getaway, it brings live music, markets, sport and open-air family programming to the pine-lined resort town on the Gulf of Riga.
Jūrmala has been Latvia's favored seaside escape since the nineteenth century, when Riga's wealthier residents began building wooden villas along a 33-kilometre stretch of white sand dunes and pine forest on the Gulf of Riga, a short ride from the capital.
