Rimi Riga Marathon in Riga
The Rimi Riga Marathon is the largest and most international running event in the Baltic states, held annually since 1991 with start and finish lines near Riga Castle. Runners cross the Daugava River and pass through Old Riga on courses ranging from the full marathon and half marathon down to 10km, 6km, relay, and mile races. Certified by AIMS and rated a World Athletics Gold Label Road Race, its 2025 edition drew more than 40,000 runners from over 100 countries.
Since 1991, the Rimi Riga Marathon has grown from a modest post-independence road race into the largest and most international running event in the Baltic states, a transformation that mirrors Riga's own emergence as a major European capital in the decades since.
