Shouf Biosphere Festival in Shouf Biosphere Reserve
The Shouf Biosphere Reserve, Lebanon's largest protected area and home to its biggest cedar stands, runs an established ecotourism network of guesthouses and hiking trails rather than one clearly documented, separately named annual Shouf Biosphere Festival. The well-known Beiteddine Festival, a major summer arts event, is held nearby but sits outside the reserve's own boundaries and appears to be a distinct event.
Lebanon's largest nature reserve spreads across the western ridge of Mount Lebanon from Dahr al-Baidar down to Jezzine, protecting the country's biggest stands of native cedar along with roughly five hundred plant species, dozens found nowhere else on earth, across an area covering about five percent of Lebanon's total territory.
