Lauksnos Intangible Cultural Heritage Festival in Klaipeda
Lauksnos is a biennial international festival of intangible cultural heritage held in Klaipeda every two years since 2017, gathering tradition keepers from around ten countries each July. Centered on Theatre Square, it combines a traditional crafts market, educational workshops and concerts with exhibitions on specific inherited skills such as straw ornament-making, Japanese washi papermaking and Latvian glass-blowing.
Lauksnos takes its name from an old Prussian word for stars and lights, and the festival lives up to that etymology by gathering tradition keepers from around the world rather than staying confined to Lithuanian folk culture alone.
