The story

Tek Saule ant Maraciu in Neringa

Tek sauluze ant maraciu is an international folklore festival in Nida running since 1998, combined with Jonines, the Lithuanian Midsummer celebration. It features folk music and dance performances, bonfires and wreath-making on the shortest night of the year, nature walks along the Curonian Spit, craft stalls and family activities, held annually each June.

Midsummer in Nida means two celebrations folded into one: Jonines, the Lithuanian celebration of the summer solstice, and Tek sauluze ant maraciu, an international folklore festival that has gathered performers and craftspeople on the Curonian Spit since 1998.

What is special

The part that makes it specific.

01

The place changes

Few Lithuanian Midsummer events combine a nearly three-decade-old folklore festival with the natural setting of a UNESCO World Heritage dune landscape the way Tek sauluze ant maraciu does

02

The mystery stays covered

Its program pulls in folk ensembles from multiple countries rather than staying purely local, giving Jonines traditions like wreath-making and the fern-flower search an international folklore-festival framing rather than a purely domestic one

03

The city starts moving

Editions have reached into the twenties, with recent programs adding a tribute to folklorist Martynas Liudvikas Reza on his 250th birth anniversary, showing organizers actively layer new historical content onto the recurring solstice format rather than repeating a fixed script
