Stintapukis in Nida
Stintapukis is a winter festival held around Nida on the Curonian Spit, centered on bumbinimas, a traditional ice-fishing method for catching smelt recognized as Lithuanian intangible cultural heritage. Running since 2012, it combines fishing demonstrations, the Nida Blizge angling competition, Ice Blokart land-yacht racing, smelt tastings, a winter crafts fair and children's activities.
Each January, the shallow ice along the Curonian Lagoon near Nida turns into a stage for a fishing method most Lithuanians only know from museum displays.
