The Macao City Fringe Festival is an autumn arts event organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau that spreads experimental and independent performance out of formal theatres and into streets, alleyways and neighbourhood spaces across the city. Typically running through September, it favours small-scale, boundary-pushing theatre, dance, digital and interactive work over the mainstream programming of Macao's larger arts festival.

Every September the Cultural Affairs Bureau turns Macao's back streets, courtyards and repurposed shopfronts into a scattered stage for the Macao City Fringe Festival, a counterpart to the city's larger spring Arts Festival that deliberately favours the small, the experimental and the site-specific over the grand and the imported.
