Vezo Pirogue Festival in Anakao/Toliara coast
The Vezo Cultural Festival is a July celebration of Vezo maritime culture in southwestern Madagascar, centered on Tolagnaro (Fort Dauphin) and the fishing village of Anakao near Toliara. It features pirogue (outrigger canoe) races and traditional music honoring the nomadic Vezo fishing community's long, lunar-cycle-tied relationship with the sea.
