Lake of Stars Malawi Arts Festival in Nkhotakota
The Lake of Stars Festival is a three-day international music and arts event held on the shores of Lake Malawi, founded in 2004 by British visitor Will Jameson after he had volunteered in Malawi in 1998. Now drawing more than four thousand attendees from Malawi, Europe, and across Africa each year, it has been named among Africa's leading music festivals by international media including CNN and Time Out.
The Lake of Stars Festival has grown, over two decades, from a modest gathering of a few hundred people into one of Africa's most internationally celebrated music festivals, all built around the shores of Lake Malawi, the vast body of water that forms the country's most defining geographic feature.
