Tamu Besar Kota Belud in Kota Belud
Tamu Besar Kota Belud is Sabah's largest traditional open-air market and cultural festival, held annually in November in Kota Belud, about 75 kilometers north of Kota Kinabalu. The event is best known for its gathering of West Coast Bajau horsemen, nicknamed the East Cowboys, who parade in colorful traditional dress on decorated horses alongside the district's regular weekly tamu trading market.
Tamu Besar Kota Belud stands as Sabah's most iconic annual gathering built around the tradition of the tamu, a regular open-air market central to community and economic life across rural Sabah.
