Royal Langkawi International Regatta in Langkawi
The Royal Langkawi International Regatta, dating back to 2003, is an annual sailing competition based at the Royal Langkawi Yacht Club in the Andaman Sea, drawing more than 40 yachts each year to race against a backdrop of limestone cliffs and tropical islands. The 22nd edition concluded January 24, 2026 after a week of racing, with skipper Rolf Heemskerk's The Next Factor winning the Prime Minister's Challenge Trophy ahead of runner-up Alive and third-placed Blitz.
Langkawi, an archipelago of limestone islands off Malaysia's northwest coast known internationally for its beaches, cable car and duty-free shopping, has also built a significant reputation within competitive sailing through the Royal Langkawi International Regatta, based at the Royal Langkawi Yacht Club.
