Valletta Baroque Festival in Valletta
The Valletta International Baroque Festival is Malta's annual celebration of baroque music, opera, and dance, held each January in Valletta since its establishment in 2013. Organized by the Valletta Cultural Agency, it stages performances by Maltese and international early-music ensembles across historic venues including the Manoel Theatre, St John's Co-Cathedral, and the Grand Master's Palace.
When Valletta was named European Capital of Culture for 2018, the Valletta International Baroque Festival, already running since its establishment in 2013, became one of the clearest examples of how the city planned to leverage its architectural inheritance for contemporary cultural programming.
