Assalamalekoum Festival in Nouakchott

Assalamalekoum Festival is Mauritania's leading hip-hop and urban culture festival, held annually in Nouakchott since its creation in 2008 by ZAZA Productions under artist Monza, in partnership with the French Institute of Mauritania. The 2025 edition ran June 18 to 26 at the former youth center, hosting more than thirty artists from fifteen countries.

Since its founding in 2008, the Assalamalekoum Festival has become the closest thing Mauritania has to a national hip-hop institution, built from the ground up by ZAZA Productions under the direction of the Mauritanian artist known as Monza.
