Festival de Ouadane in Ouadane
Festival de Ouadane is the Ouadane staging of the rotating Festival des Cites du Patrimoine, held in this UNESCO World Heritage caravan town in northern Mauritania's Adrar region. The 10th edition ran December 10 to 14, 2021, under the general oversight of filmmaker Abderrahmane Sissako, featuring songs, dances, poetry, storytelling, debates, screenings, camel races, and craft exhibitions.
Perched among the weathered stone ruins of northern Mauritania's Adrar region, Ouadane takes its turn roughly once every four years hosting the Festival des Cites du Patrimoine, the Heritage Cities Festival that rotates among the country's four UNESCO World Heritage caravan towns.
