Cumbre Tajin in Papantla
Cumbre Tajin is a multi-day cultural and music festival held near the El Tajin archaeological site outside Papantla, Veracruz, typically around the spring equinox in March. The event celebrates Totonac indigenous culture, most visibly through the Danza de los Voladores, alongside a lineup of contemporary Mexican and international musical performers staged near the ancient pyramid ruins.
El Tajin, a UNESCO World Heritage archaeological site near Papantla in northern Veracruz, was once a major ceremonial and political center for Classic Veracruz culture and later Totonac civilization, its pyramids and ballcourts built with astronomical alignments tied to the agricultural calendar.
