The story

New Generation Circus Festival in Fontvieille

Princess Stephanie and her daughter Pauline Ducruet created the New Generation Circus Festival in 2012 as the world's only circus competition dedicated entirely to young performers. It runs alongside the main International Circus Festival of Monte-Carlo each January under the same Fontvieille big top, with its 13th edition sharing the 2026 calendar dates of January 16 through 25 with the 48th main festival.

The New Generation Circus Festival began in 2012 as a joint creation of Princess Stephanie of Monaco and her daughter Pauline Ducruet, built around a gap neither of them saw being filled elsewhere: a competition dedicated purely to young circus talent, judged with the same seriousness as the adult professional circuit but scaled specifically for performers still early in their careers.

What is special

The part that makes it specific.

01

The place changes

What makes this festival unusual is not just its family origin but the gap it fills: no other circus competition in the world exists purely to give young jugglers, acrobats, and clowns a professionally judged stage before reaching the main international circuit

02

The mystery stays covered

Created by Princess Stephanie with her daughter Pauline Ducruet, who now chairs the judging jury herself, it treats emerging performers as worth serious competitive evaluation rather than a sideshow to adult acts

03

The city starts moving

Running on the same dates and under the same Fontvieille big top as the main International Circus Festival gives young competitors real proximity to the established professional circuit, and its own Gold, Silver, Bronze, and Junior Clown awards, presented at the shared closing gala, mirror the main event's prestige at a scale built for developing talent
