Monaco E-Prix in Monte Carlo

The Monaco E-Prix brought Formula E to Europe for the first time when it debuted on May 9, 2015, racing electric single-seaters through Monte Carlo's harbor district. Early editions used a shortened 1.765 kilometre layout because first-generation batteries could not handle the climb near Mirabeau or the run past the Casino, but since returning from a 2020 pandemic cancellation the circuit has expanded to nearly match the full Monaco track.

The Monaco E-Prix holds a specific distinction in motorsport history: when it first ran on May 9, 2015, it was the first Formula E race held anywhere in Europe, bringing an all-electric championship to a principality already synonymous with the sport's most famous street circuit.
