Naadam Festival in Ulaanbaatar
Naadam is Mongolia's national holiday, celebrating the Three Manly Games of wrestling (bokh), archery and horse racing each July 11-13 in Ulaanbaatar. The opening ceremony, wrestling finals and archery take place at the 60,000-seat National Sports Stadium, while horse racing runs on the open steppe at Khui Doloon Khudag, roughly 30 kilometers west of the city.
Each July, Mongolia's capital turns toward a set of games that trace their lineage back to the founding of the Mongol Empire.
