The story

Erfoud Date Festival in Erfoud

The Erfoud Date Festival, also called the International Date Fair, celebrates the date harvest in Erfoud, Morocco's Capital of Dates, set amid nearly a million date palms in the Tafilalt oasis. Its 14th edition ran October 29 to November 2, 2025, drawing more than 230 exhibitors and over 90,000 visitors for traditional music, dance, a Date Queen crown, a fashion parade and a date-palm climbing contest.

Erfoud sits within the Tafilalt oasis in southeastern Morocco, a region so densely planted with date palms, nearly a million of them, that the town has earned the title Capital of Dates.

What is special

The part that makes it specific.

01

The place changes

Erfoud's festival is built around a crop deeply woven into Moroccan cultural symbolism, where the date palm represents prosperity and abundance across the region

02

The mystery stays covered

Set in the Tafilalt oasis among nearly a million date palms, the fair draws a genuinely large-scale crowd, over 90,000 visitors and more than 230 Moroccan and international exhibitors in its recent edition, making it one of the country's biggest agricultural celebrations

03

The city starts moving

The program mixes commerce with spectacle: a date-palm climbing contest tests real harvesting skill, a fashion parade winds through the streets, and the crowning of a Date Queen gives the celebration a symbolic focal point

04

The water draws everyone in

Berber drummers and camel caravans move through a dusty, market-filled atmosphere that feels closer to an oasis trading town in full swing than a conventional festival ground
