Imilchil Marriage Festival in Imilchil
The Imilchil Marriage Festival is a three-day September gathering in Morocco's Middle Atlas Mountains where young Berber men and women from different tribes traditionally meet to seek marriage partners. Rooted in the legend of ill-fated lovers from the Ait Hdiddou and Ait Zmane tribes, the event draws thousands of visitors for traditional weddings, livestock trading, folklore performances and displays of intricate silver jewelry and colorful dress.
