Taragalte Festival in Mhamid El Ghizlane
The Taragalte Festival takes place each autumn in the dunes near M'hamid El Ghizlane, at the far end of Morocco's Draa Valley, celebrating Saharan and Amazigh nomadic culture. Founded in 2009 by a local family alongside the village community, the three-day open-air gathering brings together Gnawa musicians, Amazigh singers, poets and craftspeople. The 2025 edition ran October 31 through November 2.
M'hamid El Ghizlane marks the point where the paved road runs out and the Sahara properly begins, the last town of any size before the dunes stretch toward Mali and Mauritania.
