Festival Timbila M'saho in Zavala/Quissico
Festival Timbila M'saho is an annual gathering of Chopi timbila xylophone orchestras in Quissico, the seat of Zavala district in Inhambane province. Organized by the local association AMIZAVA and usually held in August, it brings together dozens of ensembles to perform on the wooden xylophones that UNESCO recognized as intangible cultural heritage in 2005.
Timbila is the xylophone orchestra music of the Chopi people, who live around Zavala district in Inhambane province along Mozambique's southern coast.
