Oshakati Totem Expo in Oshakati
The Oshakati Totem Expo is an annual culture-and-commerce exhibition held at Oshakati's Independence Stadium in northern Namibia. Launched in 2012 by the Oshakati Town Council, it brings together Aawambo clan and totem displays, traditional dance, folk tales, and small-business exhibitions under a yearly theme. The 2026 edition, its fourteenth, ran under the theme Building Relationships Through Culture from 29 May to 6 June.
Each year in late May or June, the Independence Stadium in Oshakati fills with color as Aawambo clans set up displays built around their totems, the animal, plant or object emblems that define kinship lines across northern Namibia's Oshiwambo-speaking communities.
