Everest Marathon in Everest Region/Namche

The Tenzing Hillary Everest Marathon is an annual high-altitude marathon in the Solukhumbu district near Mount Everest, starting at Everest Base Camp and finishing at Namche Bazaar through the traditional Sherpa trails of the Khumbu Valley. It is officially recognized by the Government of Nepal as part of the country's annual tourism calendar.

The Everest Marathon was first pioneered by Jan Turner and Tony Hunt in 1985 and organized in conjunction with Bufo Ventures, with Turner serving as Race Director for editions in 1987 and 1989.
