Pashupatinath Teej Festival in Kathmandu/Pashupatinath
Teej, also called Haritalika Teej, is a three-day women's festival held in the Nepali month of Bhadra, commemorating Goddess Parvati's reunion with Shiva after her long penance. At Pashupatinath Temple in Kathmandu, thousands of women dressed in red gather to fast, sing, dance and pray for their husbands' well-being or for a devoted marriage.
Teej takes its name and much of its meaning from the story of Parvati's long pursuit of Shiva.
