Lomanthang Yartung in Lo Manthang
Yartung is a Tibetan Buddhist horse festival held in Lo Manthang, the walled former capital of the Kingdom of Lo in Upper Mustang, marking the end of the summer monsoon and harvest with horse racing, archery, and community feasting.
Yartung unfolds each year in Lo Manthang, the mud-walled town that served as capital of the once-independent Kingdom of Lo from its founding in 1380 by the ruler Ame Pal.
