Bala Chaturdashi in Pashupatinath/Kathmandu
Bala Chaturdashi is an overnight Hindu observance at the Pashupatinath Temple in Kathmandu, when devotees walk the temple forest scattering seven types of seeds and oil lamps in memory of the dead. The ritual, called Satbij Chharne, falls on the fourteenth day of the dark lunar fortnight in November or December.
Each year, on the fourteenth day of the dark lunar fortnight in the Nepali month spanning November and December, the forested grounds around Pashupatinath Temple in Kathmandu fill with a different kind of crowd than usual.
