Pinkpop in Landgraaf

Pinkpop is a rock and pop festival founded in 1970 and held annually on Whit Sunday, or Pentecost, weekend in late May or early June, a long weekend that gave the festival its name. Originally staged in Geleen, it moved in 1988 to its current home at Megaland in Landgraaf, in Dutch Limburg near the German border, and is widely cited, including by Guinness World Records, as the longest-running annual pop and rock festival held on the same weekend each year.

Pinkpop has spent more than half a century built around a single piece of calendar logic: hold the festival on the Whit Sunday, or Pentecost, long weekend, and the name follows from that choice, since Pinksteren is the Dutch word for Pentecost.
