Seven Hills Run Nijmegen in Nijmegen
The Zevenheuvelenloop, or Seven Hills Run, is an annual 15-kilometre road race held in Nijmegen each November, named for the morainic hills the course crosses on the edge of the city near Groesbeek. It is one of the largest 15K road races in the world by participation and has a strong reputation among elite distance runners for producing very fast times.
Nijmegen sits on a landscape unusual for the Netherlands: a series of low hills formed by glacial moraines, deposited during the last ice age, giving the region around the city and neighboring Groesbeek a rolling topography rarely found elsewhere in this famously flat country.
