Alexandra Blossom Festival in Alexandra
The Alexandra Blossom Festival is a spring community celebration in Alexandra, Central Otago, marking the flowering of the district's fruit orchards each September. First held in 1957, it centres on a Saturday street parade of floats, marching bands and vintage cars through the town, alongside a park carnival, shearing displays and live music, drawing visitors from across the lower South Island.
Alexandra sits in a basin of the Clutha and Manuherikia rivers, in a part of Central Otago known for some of New Zealand's hottest summers and coldest winters.
