Bay Dreams in Mount Maunganui
Bay Dreams is a summer dance and hip hop music festival that began in 2016 at Mount Maunganui's Baypark arena on New Zealand's Bay of Plenty coast. Held in early January, it built its reputation on golden-era hip hop, New Zealand roots music and multi-stage electronic lineups, drawing tens of thousands of festivalgoers from across the country each summer.
Mount Maunganui takes its name from Mauao, the volcanic cone that rises at the tip of the peninsula and has watched over the town for centuries, sacred to local iwi long before it became a summer holiday town.
