Gardens Magic Wellington in Wellington
Gardens Magic is Wellington City Council's free summer evening event series held in the Wellington Botanic Garden each January, combining live music, food trucks, and family entertainment against the backdrop of the garden's rose beds, native forest, and sculpture collection over a run of consecutive evenings.
The Wellington Botanic Garden, established on land used historically by the Ngati Te Whiti hapu of Te Ati Awa for growing and gathering food, was formally set up as a botanic garden in 1868 and expanded further in 1871, and it holds recognition today as a Garden of National Significance and a Heritage New Zealand-listed historic area.
