Calabar Christmas Village in Calabar
Calabar Christmas Village anchors Cross River State's month-long December festival, built around the Calabar Carnival, often billed as Africa's biggest street party. Launched in 2004 under then-Governor Donald Duke, the celebration transforms Calabar into a festive hub of concerts, parades, food and family entertainment stretching from early December through the New Year.
Calabar, the historic capital of Cross River State in southeastern Nigeria, transforms each December into one of the country's most concentrated festival destinations, anchored by the Calabar Christmas Village and the wider Calabar Carnival it feeds into.
