Nzem Berom Festival in Jos
Nzem Berom is a week-long festival celebrating Berom cultural identity in Plateau State, first held in 1980 or 1981 and typically staged in March or April in Jos. It consolidates several older Berom ceremonies, including Mandyeng, Nshok and Badu, into one unified annual celebration of shared heritage.
For generations before Nzem Berom existed as a named festival, Berom communities across what is now Plateau State marked the turn of the seasons through a patchwork of distinct village ceremonies.
