Felabration Lagos in Lagos
Felabration is a week-long annual music festival held at the New Afrika Shrine in Ikeja, Lagos, founded in 1998 by Yeni Anikulapo-Kuti to honor her father Fela Kuti, the pioneer of Afrobeat, timed each year to coincide with the week of his birthday and drawing visitors from multiple countries.
In 1998, Yeni Anikulapo-Kuti conceived a festival to honor her father, Fela Kuti, the Nigerian musician, bandleader, and human rights activist who pioneered Afrobeat and became one of Africa's most influential and outspoken cultural figures before his death in 1997.
