The Opobo Boat Regatta is a boat procession tradition of the Opobo Kingdom in Rivers State, part of the wider Niger Delta regatta custom in which riverine communities parade decorated boats during the high-water rainy season to display their aquatic heritage and history.

Opobo Kingdom sits among the creeks of Rivers State with a founding story unlike most others in the region: it was established in the nineteenth century by King Jaja, a man who had been enslaved as a child, rose through the ranks of Bonny's trading houses, and eventually broke away to found his own independent kingdom built on the palm oil trade.
