April Spring Friendship Art Festival in Pyongyang
Founded in 1982, Pyongyang's April Spring Friendship Art Festival is a state-curated international performance program of music, dance, circus and related arts, framed around official April commemorations of Kim Il Sung. Foreign troupes appear at selected capital venues, but this is not an independently accessible festival. Entry to North Korea, movement, photography and admission are tightly controlled, and many governments maintain severe travel warnings or legal restrictions.
Invited foreign ensembles perform on Pyongyang stages inside a state-curated festival founded in 1982 to honor Kim Il Sung.
