Galichnik Wedding in Galichnik
The Galichnik Wedding Festival is an annual reenactment of a traditional Mijak mountain-village wedding, held in Galichnik near Lake Mavrovo on the weekend nearest July 12, Sts. Peter and Paul's Day, as part of the wider Galicko Leto festival running since 1963. A couple chosen through open competition marries in full traditional ritual accompanied by gaida bagpipes, tapan drums and the symbolic Teskoto circle dance.
The Galichnik Wedding Festival reenacts, each year, the traditional wedding customs of the Mijaks, an ethnographic group native to the mountainous Galichnik region of what is now North Macedonia.
